इतिहास जानने के स्त्रोत क्या हैं? (What Are The Sources Of Knowing History?)

भूतकाल में घटित हुई घटनाओं के वृतान्त को 'इतिहास' कहा जाता है। महत्वपूर्ण तथ्यों को चुनकर इतिहास का पुनर्निर्माण किया जाता है। ये महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य विभिन्न रूपों में प्राप्त होते हैं। इन्हें 'इतिहास जानने के स्रोत' कहा जाता है। प्राचीन भारत का इतिहास बहुत गौरवशाली है। प्राचीन भारतीय इतिहास जानने के प्रामाणिक स्त्रोतों का अभाव है। जो स्रोत उपलब्ध हैं उनकी सहायता से प्राचीन भारत के इतिहास का पुनर्निर्माण किया गया है।

The account of events that happened in the past is called 'history'. History is reconstructed by selecting important facts. These important facts come in different forms. These are called 'sources of knowing history'. The history of ancient India is very glorious. There is a lack of authentic sources to know ancient Indian history. The history of ancient India has been reconstructed with the help of available sources.

इतिहास जानने के स्त्रोतों के प्रकार (Types Of Sources To Know History)

प्राचीन भारतीय इतिहास जानने के स्त्रोतों को दो भागों में वर्गीकृत किया जा सकता है–
1. पुरातात्विक स्रोत
2. साहित्यिक स्रोत।

The sources of knowing ancient Indian history can be classified into two parts–
1. Archaeological Source
2. Literary Sources.

पुरातात्विक स्रोत (Archaeological Sources)

इन इतिहास जानने के स्रोतों के अन्तर्गत अभिलेख, भवन, मुद्राएँ, स्मारक, मुहरें, कलाकृतियाँ, मूर्तियाँ आदि शामिल हैं।

The sources of knowing these history include inscriptions, buildings, coins, monuments, seals, artifacts, statues etc.

साहित्यिक स्रोत (Literary source)

इन इतिहास जानने के स्रोतों को धार्मिक और धर्मनिरपेक्ष श्रेणियों में वर्गीकृत किया जा सकता है। धार्मिक स्रोतों के अन्तर्गत ब्राह्मण, बौद्ध एवं जैन ग्रंथ शामिल हैं। धर्मनिरपेक्ष ग्रन्थों के अन्तर्गत भारतीय विद्वानों की साहित्यिक रचनाएँ और विदेशी यात्रियों के विवरण शामिल हैं। यूनानी, चीनी, तिब्बती, ईरानी आदि देशों के विदेशी यात्रियों ने भारत में भ्रमण कर यहाँ के प्राचीन इतिहास का वृतान्त लिखा है।

The sources for knowing these history can be classified into religious and secular categories. The religious sources include Brahmanical, Buddhist and Jain texts. Secular texts include literary works of Indian scholars and descriptions of foreign travelers. Foreign travelers from countries like Greek, Chinese, Tibetan, Iranian etc. visited India and wrote the account of the ancient history of this place.
