दुनिया का पाँचवाँ महासागर– दक्षिणी महासागर | World's Fifth Ocean– Southern Ocean

भूगोल की पुस्तकों में अक्सर पाँच महासागरों के विषय में जानकारी दी जाती है। साल 2021 तक पाँचवें महासागर को आधिकारिक मान्यता नहीं मिली थी। प्रतिवर्ष 08 जून को 'विश्व महासागर दिवस' मनाया जाता है। 08 जून 2021 को 'नेशनल जियोग्राफिक सोसाइटी' ने पाँचवें महासागर को मान्यता प्रदान की। इस महासागर को 'दक्षिणी महासागर' कहा जाता है। इसके अंतर्गत अंटार्कटिका के आसपास का महासागरीय इलाका शामिल है।

Geography books often give information about the five oceans. The fifth ocean was not officially recognized until 2021. 'World Ocean Day' is celebrated every year on 08 June. On 08 June 2021, the 'National Geographic Society' recognized the fifth ocean. This ocean is called 'Southern Ocean'. It includes the ocean area around Antarctica.

'नेट जियो' के अनुसार, सन् 1915 से विश्व का नक्शा बनाने की शुरूआत कर दी गयी थी। तत्कालीन समय में केवल चार महासागरों को मान्यता प्रदान की गयी थी। ये महासागर निम्नलिखित हैं–
1. प्रशान्त महासागर
2. अटलांटिक महासागर
3. हिन्द महासागर
4. आर्कटिक महासागर।

According to 'Nat Geo', world map making was started from the year 1915. At that time only four oceans were recognized. These oceans are as follows–
1. Pacific Ocean
2. Atlantic Ocean
3. Indian Ocean
4. Arctic Ocean.

एलेक्स टेट के अनुसार, बहुत सालों तक वैज्ञानिक दक्षिणी महासागर को मान्यता प्रदान नहीं कर रहे थे। इस विषय में अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर किसी तरह की बातचीत या समझौता नहीं हुआ था। इस कारण दक्षिणी महासागर को आधिकारिक तौर पर महासागर की श्रेणी में नहीं रखा जा रहा था। अन्त में दक्षिणी महासागर को आधिकारिक मान्यता प्राप्त हो गयी।

According to Alex Tate, for many years scientists were not recognizing the Southern Ocean. There was no international negotiation or agreement on this subject. For this reason the Southern Ocean was not officially being classified as an ocean. Finally the Southern Ocean got official recognition.
