रावण छाया शैल आश्रय की चित्रकारी (Painting Of Ravan Chhaya Rock Shelter)

रावण छाया शैल आश्रय उड़ीसा के क्योंझर जिले में स्थित हैं। ये चट्टानी आश्रय स्थल हैं। यहाँ पर 'आधी खुली हुई छतरी' के रूप में प्राचीन फ्रेस्को चित्र बने हैं। उल्लेखनीय विषय यह है कि इस आश्रय स्थल का प्रयोग शाही आखेट भवन के रूप में किया जाता था। यहाँ का सबसे प्रमुख भित्ति चित्र 'शाही जुलूस' का चित्र है। इस चित्र का चित्रण सातवीं शताब्दी ईस्वी के दौरान किया गया था। इसके अलावा अन्य महत्वपूर्ण चित्र ग्यारहवीं शताब्दी ईस्वी के दौरान निर्मित चोल काल के चित्र हैं।

Ravana Chhaya Shelter is located in Keonjhar district of Orissa. These are rocky shelters. There are ancient fresco paintings in the form of 'Half open umbrella'. The remarkable subject is that this shelter was used as a royal hunting building. The most prominent mural here is the picture of 'royal procession'. The painting was done during the seventh century AD. Apart from this, other important paintings are the paintings of the Chola period, produced during the 11th century AD.

लेपाक्षी मंदिर की चित्रकारी (Lepakshi Temple Painting)

लेपाक्षी मंदिर आंध्रप्रदेश के अनंतपुर जिले में स्थित हैं। यहाँ पर विभिन्न भित्ति चित्रों का चित्रण किया गया है। इन भित्ति चित्रों का चित्रण 16वीं शताब्दी ईस्वी के दौरान किया गया था। इनका चित्रण लेपाक्षी वीरभद्र मंदिर की दीवारों पर किया गया था। ये भित्ति चित्र विजयनगर साम्राज्य के शासकों के समय बनाए गए थे। विजयनगर काल के दौरान बनाये जाने के बावजूद भी ये चित्र धार्मिक विषयों का अनुगमन करते हैं। ये भित्ति चित्र रामायण, महाभारत और विष्णु के अवतार पर आधारित हैं। इन भित्ति चित्रों में प्राथमिक रंगों का (विशेष रूप से नीला रंग) अभाव है। गुणवत्ता के स्तर से लेपाक्षी मंदिर के चित्रों में पतन होते दिखाई देता है। रुपों, आकृतियों और वेशभूषा के विवरणों को काले रंग से रेखांकित किया गया है।

Lepakshi Temple is located in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. Various murals are depicted here. These murals were painted during the 16th century AD. These were depicted on the walls of the Lepakshi Veerabhadra temple. These murals were made during the rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire. Despite being made during the Vijayanagara period, these paintings follow religious themes. These murals are based on Ramayana, Mahabharata and incarnations of Vishnu. These murals lack primary colors (especially blue). Lepakshi temple paintings appear to be deteriorating from the quality level. Forms, figures and costume details are underlined in black.

जोगीमाथा गुफा की चित्रकारी (Jogimatha Cave Painting)

जोगीमाथा गुफा को कृत्रिम रूप से निर्मित किया गया था। ये गुफा समूह छत्तीसगढ़ के सरगुजा जिले में स्थित हैं। इन गुफाओं को 1000 से 300 ईसा पूर्व पुरानी माना जाता है। यहाँ से ब्राह्मी लिपि के लेख, सुंदर चित्रकारी एवं प्रेम कहानी के शिलालेख प्राप्त हुए हैं। इन गुफाओं को रंगभूमि से जुड़ी हुई माना जाता है। इन गुफाओं में चित्रों का प्रयोग कक्षों को सजाने के लिए किया जाता था। इन गुफाओं से नृत्यरत युगल, हाथी एवं मछली के चित्र प्राप्त हुए हैं। चित्रों की रूपरेखा लाल रंग की है। चित्रों में सफेद, काले एवं पीले रंगों का प्रयोग किया गया है। सिताबैंगा के शैलचित्र भी रंगभूमि के पास अवस्थित हैं।

Jogimatha Cave was created artificially. These cave groups are located in the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. These caves are believed to be from 1000 to 300 BC. Brahmi script articles, beautiful paintings and love story inscriptions have been received from here. These caves are believed to be associated with the amphitheater. In these caves paintings were used to decorate the chambers. Pictures of dancing couple, elephant and fish have been found from these caves. The outlines of the pictures are red. White, black and yellow colors have been used in the paintings. The rock paintings of Sitabanga are also located near the amphitheater.

बादामी गुफा मंदिर की चित्रकारी (Badami Cave Temple Painting)

बादामी गुफा कर्नाटक में स्थित है। इस गुफा में विभिन्न भित्ति चित्रों का चित्रण किया गया है। वैसे तो बादामी गुफा मंदिर अपनी मूर्तियों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है, किंतु यहाँ पर कुछ महत्वपूर्ण भित्ति चित्र भी हैं। बादामी गुफा के इन भित्ति चित्रों की मूल भव्यता और आकर्षण समाप्त हो चुका है, किंतु फिर भी ये चित्र उस युग के लोगों की कलात्मक क्षमताओं की झलक-झाँकी प्रकट करते हैं। ये भित्ति चित्र अभी तक सुरक्षित प्रारंभिक हिंदु भित्ति चित्रों में से एक हैं। छठवीं-सातवीं शताब्दी के ये भित्ति चित्र विभिन्न विषयों से संबंधित हैं। ये चित्र अजंता एवं बाघ की गुफाओं के चित्रों की परंपरा का अनुसरण करते हैं। इन चित्रों की मानव आकृतियों में कृपा एवं दया का भाव प्रकट होता है। इन मानव आकृतियों की आँखें बड़ी-बड़ी एवं अंधमुदी हैं और उनके होंठ बाहर की ओर फैले हुए हैं। बादामी गुफाओं में चालुक्य राजाओं के चित्र, जैन संतों द्वारा सांसारिक जीवन का त्याग, शिव और पार्वती, पौराणिक कथानकों एवं देवताओं आदि के चित्रों को चित्रित किया गया है। इन गुफाओं में अभी भी सुंदर प्राचीन भित्ति चित्र उपस्थित हैं, जिनमें से प्रमुख चित्र हंस पर बैठे हुए चतुर्भुज ब्रह्मा का चित्र है।

Badami Cave is located in Karnataka. Various murals have been depicted in this cave. Although Badami Cave Temple is famous for its sculptures, but there are some important murals too. The original grandeur and charm of these frescoes of Badami Cave has been lost, but still these paintings give a glimpse of the artistic abilities of the people of that era. These murals are one of the preserved early Hindu murals. These frescoes of the 6th-7th centuries deal with different subjects. These paintings follow the tradition of the paintings of Ajanta and Bagh caves. A sense of grace and kindness is manifested in the human figures of these paintings. The eyes of these human figures are large and blind and their lips are spread outwards. In the Badami caves, paintings of Chalukya kings, Jain saints relinquishing worldly life, Shiva and Parvati, mythological stories and deities etc. have been painted. These caves still have beautiful ancient frescoes, the most prominent of which is the quadrilateral Brahma seated on a swan.
