विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ.) एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय संस्था है। यह संस्था विश्व के देशों की स्वास्थ्य संबंधी समस्याओं का निदान करती है। डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ. विश्व के देशों एवं वहाँ के निवासियों में आपसी सहयोग एवं मानव स्वास्थ्य के प्रति जागरूकता संबंधी समझ विकसित कराने की संस्था है। डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ. संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ की एक महत्वपूर्ण इकाई है।

विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ.) की स्थापना 7 अप्रैल 1948 ईस्वी में की गयी थी। इसका मुख्यालय 'जिनेवा' में है। जिनेवा स्विट्जरलैण्ड का एक महत्वपूर्ण शहर है। इस अंतरराष्ट्रीय संगठन के सदस्य देशों की संख्या 194 है। इसके साथ ही डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ. के दो संबंद्ध सदस्य भी हैं।

विश्व स्वास्थ्य सभा (World Health Assembly)

विश्व स्वास्थ्य सभा विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन का राजनीतिक अंग है। ये सभा सभी सदस्य देशों का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है। यह संगठन की समस्त दीर्घकालिक योजनाओं के क्रियान्वयन के लिए स्वीकृति प्रदान करती है। इसके अलावा यह संगठन का वर्षभर का बजट तथा वार्षिक कार्यक्रम को उचित तरीके से तैयार करती है। इस सभा के माध्यम से अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य समझौतों के लिए अनुमोदन एवं सिफारिश की जाती है। इस सभा के द्वारा ही तकनीकी स्वास्थ्य विनियमों को अंगीकृत किया जाता है।

World Health Assembly is the political organ of the World Health Organization. This assembly represents all the member countries. It gives approval for the implementation of all long-term plans of the organization. Apart from this, it prepares the year-round budget and annual program of the organization in a proper way. International health agreements are approved and recommended through this assembly. Technical health regulations are adopted by this assembly.

कार्यकारी बोर्ड (Executive Board)

कार्यकारी बोर्ड में कुल 32 सदस्य कार्य करते हैं। ये सभी सदस्य अपनी व्यक्तिगत क्षमताओं के आधार पर कार्य करते हैं, न कि सरकारी प्रतिनिधियों के रूप में। इस बोर्ड की बैठक एक वर्ष में दो बार आयोजित की जाती है। कार्यकारी बोर्ड के माध्यम से ही विश्व स्वास्थ्य सभा का एजेंडा तैयार किया जाता है। इसके अलावा यह बोर्ड सभा के निर्णयों के सही क्रियान्वयन पर नज़र रखता है।

There are 32 members in the Executive Board. All these members act on the basis of their individual capabilities and not as government representatives. The meeting of this board is held twice in a year. The agenda of the World Health Assembly is prepared through the Executive Board. Apart from this, the Board monitors the correct implementation of the decisions of the House.

सचिवालय (Secretariat)

विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के सचिवालय में एक महानिदेशक होता है। इसके अधीन एक उप-महानिदेशक होता है। इन निदेशकों की सहायता के लिए अनेक सहायक महानिदेशक होते हैं।

The Secretariat of the World Health Organization has a Director-General. It is headed by a Deputy Director General. These directors are assisted by a number of Assistant Director Generals.

डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ. विश्व के देशों के रोगों की अंतरराष्ट्रीय नामावली की समीक्षा करता है। इसके साथ ही यह संगठन इस नामावली में कुछ अनुचित होने पर उसमें संशोधन भी करता है। यह खाद्य और औषधीय पदार्थों के अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानकीकरण को विकसित करता है एवं उसे प्रोत्साहन प्रदान करता है। डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ. अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य से संबंधित विभिन्न मामलों में सिफारिशें एवं अनुमोदन प्रस्तुत करता है। इसके साथ ही यह स्वास्थ्य संबंधी विभिन्न समझौतों, संधियों और नियमों का प्रस्ताव रखता है। डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ. के माध्यम से ही अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानकीकरण का विकास होता है एवं उसे प्रोत्साहन प्राप्त होता है। इस संगठन ने टीकाकरण के क्षेत्र में विशेष सफलता प्राप्त की है। डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ. के माध्यम से स्वास्थ्य एवं चिकित्सा के संबंध में विभिन्न शोध कार्य किए जाते हैं। साथ ही इसके द्वारा हृदय रोग, कैंसर, मस्तिष्क रोग जैसी बीमारियों के विषय में भी शोध कार्य किए जाते हैं। यह संगठन दवाओं और पदार्थों की माँग एवं पूर्ति को नियंत्रित करता है। डब्ल्यू.एच.ओ. विश्व के पिछड़े देशों की स्वास्थ्य संबंधी समस्याओं का निदान करता है।

Along with this, research work is also done in the subject of diseases like heart disease, cancer, brain disease. This organization controls the demand and supply of drugs and substances. WHO Diagnoses the health problems of backward countries of the world.
